MMA Physics students competed in the Philadelphia Sea Perch Challenge held at Temple University. In this competition, sponsored by the U.S. Navy, students design and build an underwater remotely operated vehicle that can navigate an obstacle course and execute an underwater recovery mission.

Our team placed fifth in the Pool Performance events and third overall in their class. This may be the best showing yet by a Merion Mercy team.  Credit the innovative thinking and perseverance of Team LegaSEA (Audrey Coughlin, Maisie Grogan, Gloria Kang, Danielle Nardella, and Annamarie Palermo).  The team also took advantage of the opportunity to test their design and practice the events in the pool at St. Joe's Prep.  We owe thanks to Dan Koenig and Geoff Nunes of the Prep Science Department, who arranged access to the pool.
