Congratulations to the team of Kiera Songhurst '22, Maeve Hegarty '22, Maeve McMahon '22, Sydney Devine '22, and Sydney Parson '22 that earned 1st place in the region in the Governor's STEM Competition.
The group consists of five juniors who are a part of MMA's STEAM Club.
There were two rounds of judging, first the regionals and second the states. The team came in 1st in the regional judging and 7th in the state judging. At the state level, there were 70 schools.
The project title is Reducing the Oversaturation of Carbon Dioxide in our Atmosphere. The team spent five months working on the project, doing research, and brainstorming. They created a device that would attach to a car's exhaust pipe and collect carbon dioxide from the exhaust fumes preventing it from entering the atmosphere.
