On October 6, 18 students from Merion Mercy’s Women for Life and Love Club attended the recent Fall Respect Life Rally, run by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. A Mass was celebrated at Cardinal O’Hara High School for 200 students from Archdiocesan and private Catholic secondary schools throughout the five-county region. Prior to Mass, students participated in a keynote session lead by Lizzy McNulty, Mid-Atlantic Regional Coordinator, Students for Life of America, as well as breakout sessions lead by Liana Hollander, Atlantic Regional Manager, Students for Life of America, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter DeMaio, from Pennsylvanians for Human Life.
Merion Mercy senior Simone Waheed (in photo) was honored to be part of the homily with Archbishop Pérez at the Mass.
Women for Life & Love is MMA’s pro-life club, grounded in our Catholic belief in the sanctity of all human life and our Mercy core value of “being a voice for dignity and respect.” In addition to discussing important respect life issues such as pro-life apologetics, post-Roe America, euthanasia, etc., WFLL attends events throughout the year including pro-life dinners, the National March for Life, and leadership conferences. The group puts its pro-life beliefs into action through service. WFLL partners with Pennsylvanians for Human Life to join with other schools’ pro-life groups in praying outside of Planned Parenthood, creating “blessing bags” for mothers in difficult situations, and collecting donations for pregnancy centers and mothers’ homes. All are welcome to join.
